The company founders Gabriel Hoerner and Chris Legget believed there were too many impediments to make the existing auction portals a viable method of trading equipment : EBAY has a garage sale business model or buyers who simply want to pay nothing for equipment regardless of its true value, and Grays Online lacked the expertise to provide realistic evaluations of IT related equipment. Both sites suffered a complex and onerous fee structure in the opinions of the two company founders.
